- Process

Ramky started India’s first biomedical waste management facility in the private sector, at Hyderabad following it with 15 more facilities in other States of India.

All facilities pickup waste, from various hospitals and healthcare establishments and bring them to the waste Management facilities for disposal. The transportation is carried out in special containerized trucks. The health care establishments generating waste are also trained in the aspects of segregation of wastes in different colour coded bags and containers. The disposal operations are carried out using incineration and sterilization as the two main modes. The facilities provided at each of these facilities are:

  • Biomedical Incinerator
  • Autoclave
  • Scrubbers for Stack Emission Control
  • Shredding facility
  • Secured Landfill facility
  • Effluent Treatment Plant

The incinerators and autoclaves comply with the statutory regulations. The incineration ash is disposed off in specially prepared landfills.

Presently some of these facilities operate under Semb-Ramky Environment Management Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture with SembCorp Environmental Management Ltd of Singapore.

All installations and operations are in line with regulatory requirement laid down by Bio-Medical Waste (Management and Handling) Rules 1998, and its amendments enunciated by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of India.
